The Golden State Warriors officially enter the 2025 NBA playoffs as the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
The Warriors took care of business in the play-in tournament with a 121-116 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, setting up a first-round showdown against the second-seeded Houston Rockets.
Star guard Jimmy Butler paved the way for the Dubs with an impressive performance, scattering a game-high 38 points, along with seven rebounds, and six assists.
During the walk-off interview, Butler was asked about how he believed the Warriors would come out on the winning end of a tight game.
“That we got a hell of a Batman,” Butler said referring to Steph Curry, who exploded for 37 points. “And we just got a group of guys that got a lot of fight. Never give up. And we did what we were supposed to do finally.”
Butler also shared why it has been fun and exciting for him to be part of the Warriors franchise and become teammates with players he has admired from afar for a long time.
“I think more than anything, how together we are, on the floor and off the floor, how everybody wants everybody to be great,” Butler said. “And we play our roles to the T. I think that's the most important part of a championship-caliber team, and we have that.”
Butler’s brilliance was on display early in the matchup, but it was Curry who sealed the win for the Warriors with some late-game heroics, making Golden State's last seven points of the game. The 35-year-old Butler was quick to praise Curry’s composure during those kind of situations.
“That's a Batman if I've ever seen a Batman,” Butler said. “Always coming to save the day. You're never out of any game. And more than anything, he's just so poised. He's so calm. He was a huge part of us getting the victory.”
With the loss, the Grizzlies will have to face the winner of the 9-10 matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings for a spot in the playoffs.
