The Oklahoma City Thunder are having a season to remember, sitting atop the Western Conference with a stellar 54-12 record.

With MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the charge and Chet Holmgren making a strong case for Rookie of the Year, the Thunder have emerged as one of the league's most dominant teams.

Their elite defense and balanced offense have made them a nightmare for opponents, and they’ve already clinched a playoff berth with weeks to spare.

In their most recent game, the Thunder secured a statement 118-112 victory over the defending champion Boston Celtics at TD Garden.

Gilgeous-Alexander was unstoppable, dropping 34 points while adding 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Holmgren contributed a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Isaiah Hartenstein and Cason Wallace provided key support.

The Thunder’s physicality and relentless attack overwhelmed the Celtics, who struggled without their All-Star big man Kristaps Porzingis.

OKC outscored Boston in the paint and dominated at the free-throw line, showcasing their ability to win in multiple ways.

OKC should be cautious, according to ex-NBA title winner

Despite the Thunder’s impressive performance, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins expressed skepticism about their title chances during an appearance on First Take.

Perkins acknowledged OKC’s talent but emphasized the Celtics’ potential with a healthy roster.

“The Boston Celtics were missing a key piece: Kristaps Porzingis,” Perkins said.

He argued that the Thunder should “absolutely not” be favored over Boston to win the championship, citing Porzingis’ importance to the Celtics’ offense and defense.

Perkins’ comments have sparked debate, with some questioning whether the Thunder’s youth and inexperience could hinder them in the playoffs.

However, OKC’s consistent dominance this season suggests they are more than capable of making a deep postseason run.

As the playoffs approach, the Thunder are determined to prove their doubters wrong and bring a championship to Oklahoma City.
