Kings G Malik Monk's Injury Status Updated vs. Celtics
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings are set to host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday as two of the hottest teams in the league face off in Golden 1 Center. The Kings have won three in a row and 14 of their last 19, but the 20-6 Celtics are just as hot. Sacramento looks to defend their 10-3 home record, but they might be a man short in the pivotal matchup.

Despite not yet missing a game this season, Kings G Malik Monk is now listed as questionable for Wednesday's matchup with right foot irritation.

Monk is having a career-best season, averaging 14.8 points and 5.2 assists per game with 43.4/42.9/89.1 shooting splits off the bench. Sacramento's backup guard is leading the NBA Sixth Man of the Year race and would be a significant loss for the Kings if he has to miss time.

The Kings must be at full strength taking on the fire-powered Celtics, but Boston is on the second leg of a back-to-back, as Sacramento might have caught a break.

Led by Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis, the star-studded Celtics lineup will be the biggest test of Sacramento's season thus far. Despite tough matchups, the Kings will need strong games from the talented trio of De'Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, and Domantas Sabonis.

The Kings will certainly hope Monk is good to go for Wednesday's game, but if the injury keeps him sidelined, Sacramento will need Kevin Huerter to break his cold streak to make up for Monk's absence.
