Jalen Brunson and the No. 3 seed New York Knicks are currently locked in a 1-1 series tie with the No. 6 seed Detroit Pistons.
The Knicks jumped out to a 1-0 series lead after a 34-point performance from Brunson in Game 1. The Pistons responded with a 100-94 win in Game 2, despite a 37-point outing from Brunson.
Game 3 of this first-round series will tipoff in Detroit on Thursday night.
Before this crucial postseason contest, the Knicks announced an historic achievement accomplished by Brunson in Game 2.
Brunson now has 12 career 30-point playoff games, earning him No. 2 position on the Knicks' all-time list. New York legend Patrick Ewing tops the list with 18 30-point postseason games.
"Scoring his way into the Knicks history books. Jalen's last game marked his 12th career 30+ point playoff game as a Knick, which is second-most in franchise history," the team wrote on X.

On Wednesday, Brunson was named the 2024-25 NBA Clutch Player of the Year — beating out fellow finalists Nikola Jokic and Anthony Edwards.
"Jalen Brunson averaged an NBA-high 5.6 points and shot 51.5% from the field in clutch situations (final five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime when the score is within five points). In the 28 clutch games in which Brunson played, the Knicks had a record of 17-11," the NBA wrote on X.
Brunson is maintaining a positive attitude following the Knicks' Game 2 loss earlier this week.
"We have the utmost trust in everyone on this team," Brunson said. "It doesn't matter the situations people are put in, we're going to sit there and have each others' backs. We're going to go forward, we're going to win together, we're going to lose together and we're going to learn together. It's as simple as that."
Game 3 will tipoff at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.
