The New York Knicks (50-28) took down the Phoenix Suns (42-36) 112-98 on Sunday, April 6, reaching the 50-win mark for the second straight season, thanks to another electric performance from OG Anunoby.
Anunoby poured in 32 points — 19 of them coming in a flawless third quarter — continuing the hottest scoring stretch of his career. He went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in that frame, including 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, fueling a Knicks surge that put the game out of reach.
Jalen Brunson returned to the lineup after missing 15 games with a sprained ankle and added 15 points and six assists in a solid showing. The Knicks didn’t need to lean heavily on their All-Star guard with Anunoby dominating the third quarter and stretching his career-best streak to 10 consecutive games with 20 or more points.
Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Mikal Bridges added 22 points against his former team.
Phoenix was led by Devin Booker, who exploded for 40 points, but got little help elsewhere. The Suns, playing without Kevin Durant (sprained left ankle), have now dropped six straight and are slipping further from play-in contention, sitting 11th in the Western Conference.
Deuce McBride also returned for New York, scoring eight points after missing eight games with a groin injury. With McBride and Brunson back, the Knicks are finally healthy as they head into a crucial final week of the regular season.
Anunoby’s personal 11-4 run in the third quarter helped push New York’s lead to 78-61, highlighted by back-to-back threes, a driving dunk, and a third triple to cap off the momentum swing.
The Knicks will host the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, April 8, while the Suns look to snap their skid when they visit the Golden State Warriors that same night.
