On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Charlotte Hornets with a 100-97 final score at Crypto.com Arena.
The Hornets got some solid production out of 23-year-old center Mark Williams, who finished the game with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Lakers acquired Williams in a trade with the Hornets earlier this month, sending Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish and a couple future draft picks to Charlotte in exchange for the young big man.
Less than 48 hours after the Lakers and Hornets agreed to the deal, the trade was rescinded. Williams failed his physical with the Lakers, who claimed Charlotte failed to "satisfy a condition of the trade."
On Thursday, Williams' agent Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management came forward with a bold claim.
"The overwhelming sentiment, after conferring with multiple, nationally recognized doctors, is that the Los Angeles Lakers should not have failed Mark Williams on his physical," Schwartz said in a statement.
"Mark was ready and able to play for them and should have been given that opportunity," he continued.

The Lakers are facing backlash from fans after this most recent update.
"It's been obvious the Lakers just had remorse about making the deal. Just tough the Hornets are the ones that have to deal with the ramifications of it," one fan wrote.
"NBA has to un rescind the trade then. If not, this is genuinely ridiculous that they just let the Lakers get out of a trade and take it back," another added.
"We all know this. Shame on the league for not holding the Lakers accountable for this," another said.
