The Los Angeles Lakers are clinging to their playoff hopes, but attention is quickly shifting to LeBron James—and not just for what he’s doing on the floor. At 40 years old, James continues to defy expectations, yet there has been recent speculation about the Lakers star's health.

James hasn’t looked quite right in recent outings, particularly during the Lakers’ recent game against the Chicago Bulls. Despite finishing with 17 points and 12 assists, he shot just 8-for-20 from the field and missed all five attempts from deep. Beyond the box score, it was how he moved—slower than usual, more deliberate—that drew attention.

After a recent game, James acknowledged he’s still working on building up his stamina. But on Wednesday, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins gave a more direct assessment that added fuel to the speculation.

ESPN insider shares troubling health concern

“My sources are telling me that he’s not healthy,” Perkins said, without elaborating further on the nature of the concern.

The Lakers’ playoff fate may depend on how quickly James can return to form. With the Western Conference tightening up and the postseason looming, the team may have to weigh resting its biggest star now to preserve any shot at a deep playoff run.
