Luka Doncic spent the first six and a half seasons of his career with the Dallas Mavericks.

Earlier this season, he was shockingly traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a recent interview with ESPN's Malika Andrews, Doncic made a heartbreaking statement about when he found out about the trade.

Doncic: "Sadness. Mostly. I was still in shock... I felt like my heart was broken, honestly."

Doncic had just led the Mavs to the NBA Finals for the first time in 13 years (when Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki was still on the roster).

He finished his tenure in Dallas with outstanding averages of 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 47.0% from the field and 34.8% from the three-point range in 422 games.

51.2 — Wilt
48.3 — Luka
47.4 — Jokic
45.7 — Russell
45.6 — Jordan
44.6 — LeBron"

Despite the emotional rollercoaster, Doncic was able to help the Lakers finish as the third seed in the Western Conference with a 50-32 record.

They will face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Game 1 will be on Saturday night (in Los Angeles).

Via @StatMamba: "Luka Doncic in March:

30.8 PPG
9.0 RPG
9.5 APG
4.4 3PM
39.8% 3PT

On pace to join LeBron James as the only Lakers players to average 30+ PPG & 9+ APG for a month."
