Luka Doncic Passes LeBron James on Historic NBA List After Lakers' Game 2 Win

When the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a stunning midseason trade to acquire Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks, the move sent shockwaves across the NBA. Now, just a few months later, Doncic is showing exactly why the Lakers made such a bold move— and why he remains one of the league’s premier postseason performers.

In Tuesday’s 94-85 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Doncic delivered yet another masterful performance, finishing with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. His efforts helped the Lakers even the first-round series at 1-1 and also extended a personal milestone that places him among some of the greatest to ever play the game.

Doncic has now scored 27 or more points in 14 consecutive playoff games, the longest active streak in the NBA. The achievement also ties him for the third-longest streak in league history, alongside NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain, and notably surpasses his teammate LeBron James.

Only Elgin Baylor and Michael Jordan have longer runs.

The 26-year-old Slovenian star has been pivotal to the Lakers' postseason hopes since arriving in Los Angeles. After a frustrating Game 1 loss where his big 37-point performance wasn’t enough to secure a win, Doncic led the charge in Game 2, setting the tone early with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists in the first half alone.

Alongside Doncic, James also rebounded from a slow Game 1, as the 40-year-old veteran turned in 21 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

As the series shifts to Minnesota for Game 3 on Friday, Doncic’s brilliance will once again be critical. If the Lakers are to make a deep playoff run, they’ll continue to lean heavily on their new superstar.
