The NBA's All-Star Weekend is in full swing. On Saturday night, fans enjoyed the skills competition, the three-point shootout, and the slam dunk contest.

The slam dunk contest used to be the highlight of the weekend. This year, the participants included Matas Buzelis from the Chicago Bulls, Stephon Castle from the San Antonio Spurs, Andre Jackson Jr. from the Milwaukee Bucks, and Mac McClung from the G League's Osceola Magic.

McClung entered the contest with hopes of making history. Having won two consecutive dunk contests, he was aiming for a historic three-peat. He would also tie Nate Robinson for the most wins in the contest's history if successful.

McClung put on an impressive performance, channeling his inner Blake Griffin by dunking over a car. He also mimicked Aaron Gordon by taking the ball from someone spinning on a hoverboard, adding flair to his dunk by doing it with two basketballs. This spectacular display earned him his third consecutive slam dunk contest victory.

After the contest, it was revealed how much money McClung has earned throughout his career compared to his earnings from the slam dunk contests. According to Keerthika Uthayakumar, McClung has made more money from his appearances in the slam dunk contests than in his entire NBA career. Uthayakumar posted on X that McClung has earned $310,000 from the three slam dunk contests, while he has only made $132,000 in his NBA career.

McClung is better known for his slam dunk contest performances and G League career than his time in the NBA. Since 2021, he has played in five NBA games, scoring a total of 33 points, collecting 14 rebounds and dishing out 12 assists while shooting 46.2% from the field and 35.7% from three-point range.

In the G League, McClung has excelled. He averaged 25.2 points per game, along with 4.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists, and he won the MVP award during the 2023-2024 season. Although he has made history at the NBA All-Star Weekend and enjoyed success in the G League, he likely still hopes for another opportunity in the NBA, preferably with a longer tenure.
