The Orlando Magic (45-36) extended their winning streak to five games with a 129-115 victory over the Indiana Pacers (48-33) on Friday, April 11, as Trevelin Queen delivered a career-best performance in a matchup dominated by reserve units.
Queen poured in 25 points, hitting five 3-pointers to lead the way for Orlando, which rested four of its starters after clinching a spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Anthony Black added 21 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in a well-rounded effort, while Cory Joseph — the lone regular starter in uniform — played just over six minutes before taking a seat.
The Pacers also opted to rest their main rotation players, having locked up the No. 4 seed and home-court advantage in the first round a night earlier. Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with 20 points and eight rebounds, and Johnny Furphy chipped in 17 points and six boards. Indiana’s six-game win streak came to an end, and the loss finalized a first-round matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks — a rematch of last year’s postseason series, which Indiana won.
Tied 29-29 after the first quarter, the Magic took control with a 17-4 run to open the second and later broke the game open with a 14-0 burst that helped them build a 68-39 lead. Orlando never looked back.
Eight players on each team scored in double figures, but the Magic dominated offensively, shooting 63% in the first half and finishing at a season-high 57.6% overall. Head coach Jamahl Mosley got strong production from his bench while giving his top players valuable rest ahead of the postseason.
The Pacers, meanwhile, looked disjointed on both ends of the floor, a reflection of head coach Rick Carlisle's experimental rotations.
Both teams wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 13. Orlando visits the Atlanta Hawks, while Indiana travels to face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
