When the Chicago Bulls traded Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal, they acquired three players: Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, and Zach Collins. These players had significant roles on their previous teams but gradually received fewer minutes and eventually fell out of the rotation. Although these out-of-rotation players might not be the ideal additions that Bulls fans hoped for, they have a chance to revive their careers on a team with limited talent like Chicago.

Tre Jones

Bio: guard | 6'1" | 25 years old | fifth season

Stats: 8.2 points | 2.8 rebounds | 4.7 assists | 48.1 FG% | 30.2 3P% | 21.5 minutes | (career stats)

Analysis: Jones is among the few traditional point guards in the NBA who push the pace and attack the basket. However, his struggles from behind the arc have led him to fall out of the rotation. In a crowded backcourt, Jones can distinguish himself by consistently utilizing his playmaking and making open three-pointers.

Kevin Huerter

Bio: guard-forward | 6'7" | 26 years old | seventh season

Stats: 11.5 points | 3.4 rebounds | 2.9 assists | 44.1 FG% | 37.5 3P% | 28.0 minutes | (career stats)

Analysis: Huerter played a significant role in Sacramento’s success during the 2022-23 season with his off-ball scoring. As defensive guard Keon Ellis took on more responsibilities, Huerter's role diminished. Nevertheless, he has the potential to become a go-to scorer in Billy Donovan’s fast-paced offense.

Zach Collins

Bio: center | 6'11" | 27 years old | seventh season

Stats: 7.9 points | 4.7 rebounds | 1.8 assists | 47.8 FG% | 33.4 3P% | 18.8 minutes | (career stats)

Analysis:  Collins has struggled to establish himself since entering the league in the 2017-18 season. He found a role in San Antonio as a stretch big, but it’s difficult to find minutes playing behind Victor Wembanyama.

With Nikola Vucevic still on the roster, it’s hard to see Collins getting on the court ahead of the veteran and a backup as consistent as Jalen Smith. If Collins does get the opportunity to play, he should be prepared to take his shot.
