The Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the best teams in the West over the last few weeks as they’re fighting with the Memphis Grizzlies for the sixth spot in the Western Conference at the moment. As for the 76ers, no Joel Embiid, Paul George, or Tyrese Maxey for the rest of the season as they look to improve their lottery odds so they can potentially get one of the franchise changers in the upcoming NBA draft like Cooper Flagg. So this DFS slate will be an intriguing one as the Sixers are mostly comprised of guys that you have probably never even heard of until now. So here are my picks for this matchup.
Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.
Yabusele is the play I have the most confidence in for the 76ers in this game, as he is coming off a 37.5 fantasy point game on Thursday evening with 22 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal! Yabsuele is one of the surprises that we have experienced throughout the season, as the injuries for the Sixers have piled up enough, and he has crafted a strong role for himself on this team. Yabsuele should have a strong game tonight, even though Minnesota has Randle and Gobert active in this game.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been a walking budget play in DFS the last three games as he has had 22, 54, and 34 fantasy points, respectively. The Denver game was one of his best games of his career, where he had 26 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks. He had a three-block day against the Nets on Thursday night in their last game. I think Alexander-Walker is one of the best budget plays of the week, as I think he will continue his great play in this matchup, as he’s been the best bench player for the Wolves these last few weeks.
On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.
Julius Randle has had a productive week thus far, but I think he could be in for a slump as he only had 26.5 fantasy points on Thursday against the Nets. This is a risky sit because Randle could easily be going for 50 fantasy points against this depleted 76ers team.
Grimes has a tough matchup as he’ll most likely be guarded by Jaden McDaniels and or Anthony Edwards. This is the major issue with starting Grimes in this game, even though he has had over 40 fantasy points in these last two games for the Sixers, as he’s probably the primary option for them at the moment. Grimes has been one of the most consistent Sixers since the trade from the Mavericks, but this will be one of the toughest matchups for him tonight against the Timberwolves.
Anthony Edwards is the easiest lock of this matchup as he has been over forty fantasy points consistently these last three games, including the 62 fantasy point effort in that double overtime thriller against the Nuggets on Tuesday. The 76ers don’t have the wing defender to shut down Edwards in this game this evening. So I expect another explosion from Ant-Man tonight in Philadelphia.
DiVincenzo has had issues being consistent with the details since he has come back from his injury earlier this season, as he has been in the 20s in fantasy points throughout the season, but he is coming off a 10 fantasy point game against the Nets on Thursday. He has been disappointing for the Wolves after his season with the Knicks last year. I think the $5,000 price point will be a little bit too much to play him against the 76ers.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are going to show the reason why some people are thinking that they are the second-best team in the West heading to the playoffs with a dominant win in Philadelphia against the 76ers. Look for Anthony Edwards to make the most impact in this game, as he will show why he is one of the best young players in the game today!
