The Cleveland Cavaliers are on a mission on Wednesday night as they host the Miami Heat at Rocket Arena in Game 2 of their first-round NBA playoffs clash.
The Cavs entered this matchup up 1-0 after convincingly winning Game 1 on Sunday, 121-100, and they are now looking to go up by two games before this series shifts to Miami for Games 3 and 4.
To say that Cleveland caught fire from beyond the arc in the second quarter would be an understatement. The Cavs knocked down no less than 11 triples in the second frame alone, which allowed them to rewrite the history books.
The NBA announced via X that the Cavs had set a new record for the most threes in a single quarter in the playoffs.
"PLAYOFF HISTORY FOR THE CAVS ‼️ This Spida 3 gives them 11 in the 2nd quarter..." the NBA posted.
"That's the MOST by any team in any postseason quarter in the play-by-play era (1997-98) "

The Cavs knocked down a total of 14 triples in the first half, but close to 80% of those makes came in the second quarter.
It was Max Strus who led the charge for Cleveland with four treys in the opening half, with Donovan Mitchell connecting on two makes from beyond the arc, including the historic 11th three-pointer at the 1:35 mark of the second quarter.
This allowed the Cavaliers to mount a 68-51 lead at the break after outscoring the Heat by 16 points in the second quarter.
The Cavs will need to keep their foot on the gas after halftime, though. The Heat may be down, but they're certainly not out just yet.
