As the Denver Nuggets are fighting for a shot at the second seed in the NBA's Western Conference, Nikola Jokić, their superstar center, is truly having a season for the ages.

He has put up phenomenal numbers over the last few years and won three regular season MVP awards, but this season appears to be his best one yet. He came into Friday's game against the Utah Jazz averaging 29.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10.3 assists a game, which means he will likely become just the third player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season.

On Friday, he became the league's fifth-youngest center to reach 16,000 career points.

As of this writing, Denver leads Utah at halftime by a score of 57-47. Jokic has already put up 19 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Denver came into this game with a 46-28 record, which has it in third place in the West. It is two full games behind the Houston Rockets, who hold second place and has blasted off to 11 wins in their last 12 games.

Most people expect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the first-place Oklahoma City Thunder to win this season's MVP award. However, there is still little doubt that, overall, Jokic remains the best basketball player in the world.
