Nuggets Announce Jamal Murray News Before Lakers Game
Andrew Wevers-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers lost 131-126 to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, but they'll have a chance for revenge at home on Wednesday night. The two teams have an extensive history, and the matchup is turning into one of the NBA's bigger rivalries.

The Lakers beat the Nuggets 4-1 in the 2020 Western Conference Finals on their way to winning the championship, but Denver swept Los Angeles in the same series three years later, also going on to win the title. The Nuggets then beat the Lakers 4-1 in the first round last season.

Both teams have had injuries recently, as LeBron James (groin) remains out while Nikola Jokic (elbow, ankle) and Jamal Murray (ankle) both missed Denver's 114-105 win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday.

However, the Nuggets upgraded both of their stars to "questionable" for Wednesday's game, via the team.

Murray has continued his reign as Jokic's co-star this season, averaging 21.5 points on 47.4 percent shooting (39.7 3 PT) with 6.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 36.4 minutes. The 28-year-old's scoring average is currently a career-high, edging his 21.2-point average from last season.

Murray sank a clutch three with 5.6 seconds left in the last matchup to put Denver up 129-126, a lead it never relinquished. The former No. 7 overall pick finished with 26 points (9-16 FG, 5-9 3 PT), five assists, four rebounds, and one block in 39 minutes.

If Denver's stars play, Los Angeles will once again have to face them without James. However, it'll have Luka Doncic (ankle) this time, as he's considered "probable," via Lakers Nation's Ryan Ward.
