Nuggets Provide Jamal Murray Update Before Grizzlies Game

The Denver Nuggets are at home on Friday night as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies in a crucial Western Conference matchup.

Of course, both the Nuggets and Grizzlies are still fighting for seeding in the West before the regular season ends on Sunday and Friday’s matchup has increased stakes for both sides.

Denver sits fourth in the West standings but they are currently tied with the Los Angeles Clippers with the same record while the Golden State Warriors, Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves sit a game behind them.

The Nuggets enter Friday’s contest having lost six of their last 10 games but they are coming off a victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in their first game since firing head coach Michael Malone.

They will now look to pick up another crucial victory over a Grizzlies team coming off a loss to the Timberwolves on Thursday night.

Unfortunately for the Nuggets, they will likely be without their star point guard Jamal Murray once again as he has been ruled as doubtful due to right hamstring inflammation.

This is a massive blow for the Nuggets and also one that is becoming more concerning as Murray has missed Denver’s last six games due to his hamstring injury.

With Murray likely sidelined once again, expect Jalen Pickett to possibly fill in for him in the starting lineup again while Russell Westbrook should also have an increased role off the bench.

The good news for Denver is that Murray is the only player listed on their injury report outside of DaRon Holmes II who has missed the entire season due to a torn right Achilles.

Despite this, Murray’s absence is a massive one for the Nuggets as they ill rely on Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. to continue to pick up the slack while Murray is sidelined.

Fans can catch Friday’s matchup between the Grizzlies and Nuggets at 9:00 p.m. EST.
