The NBA Play-In tournament wraps up on Friday night and the Eastern Conference matchup just finished up between the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks.

Miami got off to a hot start in the game as they led by nine at the end of the first quarter but Atlanta was able to come back and keep it close throughout.

The Hawks were then able to outscore the Heat by nine in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime after a contested layup by their star point guard Trae Young.

Overtime did not fare too well for Atlanta as Miami dominated the extra period to grab a 123-114 win behind 30 points from Tyler Herro and 16 points off the bench from Davion Mitchell, nine of which came in overtime.

With the victory, the Heat made NBA history as the first 10-seed to advance out of the Play-In as they will now face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.

Miami also helped out the Oklahoma City Thunder with Friday’s victory as the Thunder now own the Heat’s 2025 first round pick, which will be the 15th overall selection.

This is massive news for the Thunder as they pick up another selection in the first round in this year’s loaded draft class and they also have a chance to have a lottery pick as well due to them having the Philadelphia 76ers’ pick.

Of course, Oklahoma City needs the lottery to go their way as Philadelphia’s selection is top six protected.

Either way, the Thunder will now have at least two first round picks in the upcoming draft but they will first worry about their playoff run as the top seed in the Western Conference.

Oklahoma City begins their hunt for a championship on Sunday when they will match up in the first round against the winner of Friday’s Play-In game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks.
