Quentin Grimes In Tremendous Company With March Performance

Philadelphia 76ers Shooting Guard Quentin Grimes has been spectacular in March. He finds himself on a list that includes Milwaukee Bucks Forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Oklahoma City Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Those two superstars, along with Grimes, are the only players to score 325+ points in March.

Grimes is averaging 28.0 points this month and has scored 40+ points twice in March. He is having a strong regular season. The Philadelphia 76ers have been injury-ravaged this year and the guard is taking full advantage of it. He is averaging 13.8 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists this season. Will he be able to finish March on a high note?

Quentin Grimes Career Summary

Grimes was drafted No. 21 overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2021 NBA Draft. He never played for the team as he played parts of his first three seasons with the New York Knicks. He closed out the 2023-24 season with the Pistons. He then signed with the Dallas Mavericks last offseason.

Dallas traded the young player to the Philadelphia 76ers for Forward Caleb Martin . Martin has only played five games for the injury-riddled Mavericks while Grimes is averaging a whopping 22.2 points with the team. This ill-fated trade is another reason why Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison has had one of the worst years for an executive in recent memory. The Sixers guard is a career 10 point per game scorer.

Final Thoughts

Grimes will not suit up for tonight’s contest against the New Orleans Pelicans as the Sixers will rest him. The young guard has three more games in March as he looks to cap off the best month of his career. Philadelphia will welcome the Wizards, Heat, and Raptors to town to end the month. Even though the 76ers will miss the NBA Play-In Tournament, the guard will look to continue playing at such a high level.

One dark-horse team reportedly emerging for Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant’s next chapter may end up taking him to the Alamo City. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported on Friday that the San Antonio Spurs are emerging as a potential dark-horse team to trade for the Phoenix Suns star Durant this offseason. Siegel notes that the Spurs are poised to make more moves in the summer and that there have already been whispers from league personnel about a possible San Antonio pursuit of Durant (with Spurs guard Devin Vassell being a rumored trade candidate). Now 36 years old and with one more guaranteed season left on his contract, Durant is almost certain to be traded by the No. 11 seed Suns over the offseason. The Spurs were already one of the six teams mentioned in connection with Durant earlier this month, but they figured to be a less likely option after already giving up key assets in their move for All-NBA guard De’Aaron Fox at the trade deadline. Still though, it sounds like San Antonio plans to remain aggressive this summer as they look to build around Fox and young center Victor Wembanyama (who appears to be recovering well from a blood-clotting issue). In addition to Vassell (24), some of the Spurs’ other valuable trade assets are Keldon Johnson (25), Jeremy Sochan (21), and Stephon Castle (20). With the exception of 2027, San Antonio also still has all of their own first-round draft picks through 2031. The former NBA MVP Durant is still at the top of his game this season despite the 35-38 Suns’ struggles. With averages of 26.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, Durant hasn’t lost much of his trade value, especially with his Bird rights coming along with him in any potential deal. Interestingly enough, Durant has also been linked to another team within the same state. Lately, he has also been mentioned in connection with a recent NBA champion, but that one seems a lot less likely.

Giants’ Nabers Reacts to Russell’s Scouting Report

New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers finds himself in a tough position in his early in his career. The young star finds himself as a core tenet of an offense lacking any identity at the quarterback spot. Many receivers entering the league expecting some stability there. For the New York Giants, it has been anything but since the start of the 2024 campaign. The Giants had four different starters under center, most notably former starter Daniel Jones who the team cut midseason. With some turnover, New York's still has questions heading into next season. They will return Tommy DeVito and have signed both Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson in recent weeks. Wilson made his decision this week and projects as the early favorite to land the starting job. In his opening comments with the team, Wilson spoke very highly of his new No. 1 receiver. “Just his ability to make plays. I love Malik, man. Just watching him, his personality on the field, his demeanor... the competitor, the warrior that he is, there are a lot of guys like that." Nabers had a response on his Instagram story, reposting a clip from Wilson's description with a reply of two smiling emojis. That "competitor" tallied 109 receptions for 1,204 yards. Regardless of who Nabers was paired with on the field or who he had at quarterback, his impact was felt. Now, he will look to formulate a connection with Wilson. Wilson has made his rounds through the league in recent years, finishing his tenure in Seattle before moving onto the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers last year. Now, he will pair with Nabers, arguably the most talented receiver he has thrown to in years. The long term future of the Giants' quarterback position remains an unknown, but perhaps the young playmaker may benefit from sometime with an experienced former Super Bowl champion.

New York Yankees' Brian Cashman Makes Incredible History in Rout of Milwaukee Brewers

UPDATE, 4:30 p.m. ET: Cashman achieved the 2,500 win mark as the Yankees routed the Brewers, 20-9, on Saturday afternoon. The New York Yankees defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Opening Day on Thursday and will look for another victory when they take on the Brewers again on Saturday. If they are able to win that one, it will represent a historic victory for Yankees' general manager Brian Cashman. Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com: From the Yankees game notes: Brian Cashman needs one win to reach 2,500 regular season wins in his career (2,499-1,770-2). That .585 winning percentage is the highest in MLB during his career (1998-present). Cashman has been the Yankees GM since 1998, and while he's taken lots of arrows from Yankees fans recently, he's been one of the most successful executives in sports since that time. He helped the Yankees win the World Series in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2009. New York got back to the World Series in 2024, losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games. The Yankees figure to be strong again this season, but it will be a tough road considering the American League East is loaded and the team is dealing with roster attrition already. Gerrit Cole, winner of the 2023 Cy Young Award, is out for the season because of Tommy John surgery and Luis Gil, winner of the 2024 Rookie of the Year award, is out for several months with a lat injury. Juan Soto left for the cross-town Mets in free agency. The Yankees and Brewers will play each other at 1:05 p.m. ET on Saturday. Former Yankee Nestor Cortes pitches against new Yankee Max Fried.

Former players critical of Steelers for Aaron Rodgers pursuit, handling of QB situation

While Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin clearly views Aaron Rodgers as an upgrade over discarded quarterbacks Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, Rodgers seemingly would rather spend his spring waiting to hear from the Minnesota Vikings than as a member of the Steelers. During the latest edition of NBC's "Football Night in America" show featured on YouTube, former New England Patriots safety and current NFL analyst Rodney Harrison questioned Pittsburgh's interest in Rodgers. "At times, he's gonna give you some great moments in spot duty," Harrison said about what Rodgers is at the age of 41, as shared by Matthew Marczi of Steelers Depot. "But overall, I don't trust him. I don't trust that he's gonna stay healthy. I don't trust that it's gonna be a good situation." Harrison's point is fair considering Rodgers has dealt with numerous serious injuries over the past three seasons, including a torn Achilles that essentially cost him the entire 2023 campaign. "He is old, man, and this league is not built for old guys. This league is built for young guys," Harrison added about Rodgers. "...I have a lot of respect for Aaron and what he's accomplished, but he's not that dude anymore...There's no way I would touch Aaron Rodgers. I wouldn't even entertain it." Meanwhile, former NFL player and current analyst Emmanuel Acho suggested Tomlin's handling of Pittsburgh's quarterback room following the retirement of franchise legend Ben Roethlisberger in early 2022 has repeatedly left the club scrambling for answers. "The biggest thing we turn a blind eye to in all of sports is Mike Tomlin's complete negligence of the quarterback situation," Acho said during Friday's episode of FS1's "The Facility" program, per Troy Montgomery of Steelers Depot. "You would suggest that it's malpractice, what he's doing with the quarterback situation with the Steelers." That "malpractice" involves having longtime backup Mason Rudolph atop the depth chart as Rodgers remains unsigned. Even if Pittsburgh manages to draft Colorado's Shedeur Sanders on the night of April 24, it would probably be best for everybody involved if Sanders spent his rookie season developing as a backup behind a proven starter such as Rodgers.
