The Raptors have reached agreement on a two-way contract with guard Jared Rhoden, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Rhoden, 25, spent time with the Raptors during training camp this past fall. After being waived at the end of the preseason, he was claimed by the Hornets.
The Hornets signed Rhoden to a two-way contract, where he remained for roughly six weeks before being released in early December.
During his brief stint with Charlotte, Rhoden appeared in four NBA games and two games with their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Since then, he has spent the majority of the season with Toronto‘s G League team, Raptors 905.
In 22 G League appearances, Rhoden has averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals in 30.3 minutes per game. He has been efficient from the floor, shooting 49.5% overall, including 38.0% from beyond the arc.
Rhoden also had a short-term stint with the Raptors last month, signing a 10-day contract on February 19. He played just 78 seconds in one game during his time with Toronto, a blowout victory over the Suns.
To make room for Rhoden’s two-way contract, the Raptors are expected to promote center Orlando Robinson to their standard roster, per Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca. Robinson, who started the season on a non-guaranteed contract with the Kings, has seen more consistent action with the Raptors.
After signing a pair of 10-day contracts and later securing a two-way deal, Robinson has posted averages of 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 17 games with Toronto.
The Raptors currently have two open spots on their 15-man roster, meaning they will still have room for another player after promoting Robinson.
