Rui Hachimura not currently part of Lakers’ trade plans

As a whirlwind of an offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers looms, the number of questions surrounding the roster and coaching staff could lead to a major shake-up.

But while the Lakers find themselves linked in numerous trade rumors and mentioned as a potential landing spot for the widest range of players, it seems one name is safe for now.

As The Athletic's Jovan Buha detailed in his show "Buha's Block," Rui Hachimura is not being "actively shopped" and the Lakers aren't looking to trade him.

"I don't think the Lakers are actively shopping Rui or actively looking to trade him. It's just if you look at their cap sheet and you look at who are the tradeable guys, it's really Rui, Vando [Jarred Vanderbilt], Austin [Reaves], D-Lo if he opts in and Gabe [Vincent]," Buha said.

Hachimura had a quietly solid season, averaging 13.6 points and 4.3 rebounds on 53.7 percent shooting during the regular season. While his numbers were down in the postseason, averaging 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds, he had a strong final two games in the series against the Denver Nuggets. This includes a Game 5 in which he scored 15 points with five rebounds in the 108-106 season-ending loss.

At this point, the future of many players on the Lakers roster appear to be tied to what direction the front office chooses to go. The popular belief is that the Lakers will add a third star, and in turn, that could result in numerous players and picks being dealt potentially. Time will tell, but the Lakers are one of the most interesting cases heading into free agency.
