Tuesday night, we all witnessed a masterclass from Nikola Jokic, a superstar performance from Anthony Edwards and a clash between two bitter rivals in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, late-game blunders from Russell Westbrook snatched the public eye.
The game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets was an all-time classic featuring two teams that met in a seven-game series in last year's postseason. The game went into double overtime and came down to the last second, where it looked as if the Nuggets would survive until Westbrook made two of the worst late-game mistakes anyone could fathom.
With 15 seconds to go in the game and the Nuggets up by one point, Westbrook got a steal that could have nearly sealed the game. But instead trying to run time off the clock and forcing Minnesota to foul, Westbrook attempted a layup with 11 seconds on the clock and missed. After the Timberwolves secured the rebound, Westbrook fouled Nickeil Alexander-Walker on a three-point attempt with 0.1 seconds left on the clock. Alexander-Walker would make two of three, giving the Wolves the win.

The ending left a bad taste throughout all of Denver. Not only were fans distraught about the outcome, but also some players on the Nuggets, such as Aaron Gordon, who stormed off the court before the final buzzer commenced. Several Nuggets, however, stood up for their teammate after the disastrous ending.
Westbrook's follies sealed a sweep for the Wolves over the Nuggets in their four-game season series. What was a marvelous game from top to bottom became overshadowed by two of the worst late-game decisions you can find in NBA history.
