Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley and the rest of TNT's "Inside the NBA" crew are in the midst of a grueling NBA playoff stretch that sees the team pulling off some late nights to provide coverage for the fans.
Luckily for them—and the rest of us—they're treated to some exciting postseason matchups like the Los Angeles Lakers-Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors-Houston Rockets. However, none have been more entertaining than the series taking place between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers, which is currently tied at 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Thursday night.
The fourth-seeded Nuggets took the first game with a two-point win, followed by the Clippers winning Game 2 by three points.
As America gears up for what's likely to be an exciting Game 3 on Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, many NBA fans will have to miss out. That's because the game will air on NBA TV rather than on TNT.
Unlike TNT, which is included in most basic cable packages, NBA TV is a premium, subscription-based channel. It’s not as widely available, meaning a number of fans won’t have access to the game.
However, airing on TNT on Thursday night will be the New York Knicks-Detroit Pistons (7 p.m. ET) and Oklahoma City Thunder-Memphis Grizzlies (9:30 p.m. ET).
The fact that TNT—O'Neal and Barkley's network—does not have the rights to the Nuggets-Clippers game isn't sitting too well with the two NBA legends.
"The guys said, 'It's been a great series, but we gotta go somewhere else to watch it tomorrow,'" Barkley shared.
Host Ernie Johnson then reminded Barkley that they receive NBA TV from their studio, telling him they don't have to go anywhere.
"We don't. But the fans do (have to go elsewhere to watch it)," Barkley said. "Whoever made that decision just stupid. I mean seriously, you're scheduling these games, you're like, 'no, you know what? The other two games been great, great basketball. Let's go show the game where the team got beat by 75!'"
The Thunder lead the Grizzlies 2-0 and have won both games by a combined 70 points, while the Knicks and Pistons are tied 1-1.
"But the schedule was out before any games were played," Johnson added, trying to calm Barkley down.
And that's when Shaq chimed in, telling him what he'd do if he had the power: Reschedule the game.
"I got a word for you Ernie: Reschedule," said O'Neal.
After playing the first two games in Denver, the series heads to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4 before alternating between the two cities until a winner is declared.
