Spanish basketball prospect Isaac Nogues has made an unexpected decision, announcing his entry into the 2025 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old currently plays for the Rip City Remix, the Portland Trail Blazers’ G League affiliate, and was not widely expected to declare this year, making his decision all the more intriguing.
Nogues was selected fourth overall in the 2024 G League International Draft and has since appeared in 35 games across the G League Tip-Off Tournament and regular season. He has averaged 2.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game, shooting 44.3 percent from the field.
Nogues has built his reputation as a defensive specialist, with his ability to disrupt opposing offenses emerging as his greatest strength. He made headlines on Dec. 7, when he recorded a league-record 10 steals in a single game, along with 10 rebounds, seven assists and two points—a testament to his defensive prowess.
His impact was further highlighted on Jan. 22, when he posted an unconventional stat line of two points, 16 rebounds, 15 assists and five steals in a win over the Salt Lake City Stars.
Despite these standout performances, Nogues does not currently appear on major draft boards or ESPN’s top 100 prospects, making his midseason declaration all the more surprising. However, his decision suggests confidence in securing an NBA opportunity this summer.
Born in Badalona, Spain, Nogues developed in Joventut Badalona’s renowned youth system before playing professionally with CB Penas Huesca in Spain’s third division. Rather than remaining in Europe, he took an uncommon route, moving to the G League to develop his game further.
At 6-foot-5, Nogues is not a traditional scoring prospect, but his defensive versatility, rebounding and playmaking could make him an attractive option for NBA teams seeking specialist defenders. A two-way contract may be his best route, allowing him to continue his development while gaining exposure at the top level.
As the 2025 NBA Draft approaches, Nogues’ name will be one to watch. His offensive limitations remain a concern, but his elite defensive instincts could give him a pathway to the league.
