Steve Kerr Makes Key Decision on Warriors Lineup

It is surely tempting, with the Warriors now at 32-28 and having won seven of their last nine games, for coach Steve Kerr to sit back and begin to contemplate getting his veteran players some additional rest as the team opens a back-to-back on Monday in Charlotte, followed by a game in New York on Tuesday.

This is a team, after all, that just acquired 35-year-old Jimmy Butler and will see Stephen Curry turn 37 later this month, with Draymond Green turning 35 on Tuesday.

The Warriors will have two back-to-backs this month, and two more in April. But Kerr said he does not quite have the luxury of resting his stars, not as the team is still learning how to integrate Butler while also fighting to get into the Western Conference's top 6.

Golden State is currently one of five teams within a half-game of the No. 6 seed, which would mean a sure spot in the playoffs and avoiding the play-in tournament.

Kerr was asked on Monday whether he would rest players on Tuesday. He said the team's overall health has been good enough to where he does not feel he needs to rest them, and that he's already decided he won't rest anyone in New York, as long as health holds up in Charlotte.

"Steph's in a great place right now, his knees are doing better than they were a couple months ago. So that's a great sign," Kerr said. "Draymond, too, seems to be in a good place. Obviously with Jimmy the other night, missing a game, who knows? We'll see how he comes out tonight.

"Every game is different, you just don't know. I don't want to make any predictions, but I can tell you, we've got nothing planned. We want everybody playing and going. There's an urgency to everything we're doing."

The Warriors are playing the third game of a five-game road trip. The trip wraps up in Brooklyn on Thursday.
