The Minnesota Timberwolves had one of their worst losses of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Coach Chris Finch and his team were up 24 points in the fourth quarter, but they struggled to score and contain Milwaukee, leading to a significant blow to Minnesota's record.
Mike Conley and the team have been wary since that loss, especially during their latest game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. They maintained their big lead in that game, improving from the matchup against Milwaukee.
This has been a peculiar season for the Timberwolves because the team has played the most "clutch" games out of any team at 46. Unfortunately, their tally is only set at 20-26, which means the Timberwolves have lost plenty of games they could've easily won.
Minnesota must do better with maintaining leads and executing in clutch time. Coach Chris Finch and his staff must encourage the team well, and the players must step up and not shy away from the responsibilities to help the team win more games.
When the Timberwolves lost in Milwaukee, everyone in the locker room knew they did not need to dwell on that result. The players and the staff knew they had nothing to do but redeem themselves in future games.

It was an eye-opening result for Minnesota, as they were more assertive in their win against Memphis. They had a franchise record of 52 points in the third quarter, but they still almost let another 20+ point lead go. However, Julius Randle and the rest of the team ensured the Grizzlies could not get past the 10-point mark.
"It's kinda what we expected. Just happy we came with that mindset, didn't let their runs affect that we had in the past. It's not easy to lose a game to Milwaukee and come back and find it again," Conley said after the win against Memphis. "I think the thing that was different was we realized you can lose this game as a team. You look up, and we’re up 20, most nights we’re like we got this in the bag. Try a different play, nah, we saw what happened two nights ago."
With only two games left in the 24-25 season for the Timberwolves, the team must win both to secure a spot in the Playoffs. They are one of the teams involved in this heated Playoff race. If they win against Brooklyn and Utah, they secure at least the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

Minnesota's coaches and players realize they could have easily secured a better record if they had beaten Milwaukee earlier in the week. Unfortunately, they must move on and redeem themselves by winning all the remaining games.
The games against the Nets and Jazz should be easy results for the Timberwolves because those are two of the NBA's worst teams this season. However, they should remove their complacency because that was their undoing against Milwaukee on Tuesday night.
