Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has parted ways with his representation and will serve as his own agent moving forward,  according to a new report from Chris Haynes. Specifically, the move pertains to basketball matters, while he will still retain an agent for marketing and off-court ventures.

Gilgeous-Alexander is currently in the third year of a five-year, $179.3 million deal and will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 season. It is a rare move for any athlete but is particularly notable for a player of Gilgeous-Alexander's stature.

He is the odds-on favorite for NBA MVP this season, outpacing the likes of Denver's Nikola Jokic, Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo and Boston's Jayson Tatum, among others.

Heading into the final third of the season with the All-Star festivities now in the rear-view mirror, Gilgeous-Alexander leads the league in scoring (32.5) and ranks second in steals per game (1.9). He is also averaging 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.

To this point, Gilgeous-Alexander has led the Thunder to a 44-10 record, eight games better than any other team in the Western Conference and tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the best record in the NBA. 28 games remain in the regular season for OKC.
