TEMPE –In their final game of the 2024-2025 regular season, the Valley Suns clinched a spot into the postseason in its inaugural season. The Suns’ 134-107 win over the Texas Legends in Mullet Arena had stellar individual performances from Jaden Shackelford and TyTy Washington Jr. that have them dancing into the playoffs.
The Suns are currently the fifth seed in the Western Conference in the G league. The top six seeds in both conferences advance to the playoffs, with the top two seeds getting a bye. The G League postseason is single elimination for each round except for the Finals, which is a best-of-three series.
In the first round, the Valley Suns are on pace to play against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The Suns are 2-0 against the Vipers, with wins in February and March this regular season.
In the teams’ last matchup, the Suns outscored the Vipers by 13 points in the fourth quarter for a comeback win at Mullet Arena. Shackelford had 29 points to continue his career year in the G League, averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
The battle for the Valley begins on Tuesday, where the Suns compete for a G League title in its inaugural season.
