Watch: Anthony Davis blocks two shots in a row

Anthony Davis had one eye swollen shut. That didn't keep him from getting two blocks on one play.

The defensive sequence was even more impressive since Davis caught an inadvertent elbow from Desmond Bane on a jump ball in the second quarter. Davis started bleeding and had to head to the bench and get cleaned up like a boxer.

Davis finished with five blocks, but he wasn't nearly as effective on the offensive end, scoring 13 points on 4-of-14 shooting. He was outscored by newly crowned Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr., who had 18 points and three blocks of his own.

Really, the two big men took turns blocking each other.

Despite the matchup of All-Star bigs, the highest-scoring frontcourt players in the game were two role players. The Lakers' Rui Hachimura followed up his 29-point performance in Game 1 with 20 points Wednesday night. He's shooting 18-of-26 in the series.

The Grizzlies got 22 points and 13 rebounds from Xavier Tillman, who made 10 of his 13 shots.

And despite the spectacular moments from Jackson and Davis, the best block of the game came from a 6-foot-5 guard. In the second quarter, Davis thought he had a clear path to the basket before John Konchar rotated over and stuffed him at the rim.

A few minutes later, Konchar blocked AD a second time.

It's now 1-1 between Memphis and Los Angeles. The series — and the block party — resumes Saturday in L.A.
