Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr emphasized struggling and fighting for wins. On Thursday, Golden State accomplished such goals in its 107-104 win over the Detroit Pistons. However, Stephen Curry still strives to fulfill an individual objective. After the win over Detroit, Curry revealed his goal for the 2024-25 season.
Curry played 30 out of the possible 37 games during the 2024-25 campaign. The Golden State point guard averages 22.6 points on a career-high 93 percent (when adding the context of volume) from the charity stripe.
Without Curry, though, the Warriors get the job done, given their 5-2 record in this situation. However, it should go without saying that despite such a positive mark, having your superstar is better than not having one.
Aside from an ankle ailment that kept him out of the early season, where Golden State accumulated two victories over the lowly New Orleans Pelicans and the Houston Rockets, Curry missed action in back-to-back schedule scenarios.
Following the win over the Pistons, Curry expressed his desperation to play for his team regardless of the situation.
"I'm doing everything in my power to play back-to-backs eventually," Curry said. "Whether that's tomorrow or the next one, I don't know."
Frankly, playing Curry against the surging Indiana Pacers, which the Warriors do on Friday, should mean more than the improved Pistons. Although the Pacers haven't performed to the 2023-24 standards, the Tyrese Haliburton-led team is on a hot streak. They won four of their last five games, indicating they've found a similar groove from the previous season.
Perhaps the Warriors should make an exception on Friday for Curry to play in back-to-back games.
