When will the Cavaliers finally lose a game?

Don't believe anyone who said they expected this start from the Cleveland Cavaliers. When the Cavaliers' record was 9-0, they had already surpassed the franchise's best start in history. Now, the Cavaliers are 12-0 and have joined an exclusive NBA club as one of eight teams to start a season 12-0.

Five of the other seven teams that started with that record reached the NBA Finals. The question is, how long will the Cavaliers' record remain perfect? Let's look at the Cavs' schedule to see who could hand them their first loss of the season.

Upcoming Cavs Schedule

Expect the Cavs' schedule to hand them a loss within the next few games. Only five teams have ever started better, and as good as the Cavs have been, they aren't as talented as the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors (24-0 to start the season) or the 1993-94 Houston Rockets (15-0 start). On top of that, their defensive anchor and center, Jarrett Allen, is now questionable for their next game with a lower leg strain.

The Cavs' next games are against the Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets and the defending champion Boston Celtics. The Cavs vs. 76ers game will be their first challenge as Joel Embiid is back in the lineup, and the Sixers are desperate to start stacking some wins. The Cavs vs. Bulls game could also be tough. The Cavs barely beat the Bulls on Monday and beating a team twice in a couple of days is very difficult.

Expect the Cavs to take their first loss of the season this week, but if they survive, the Celtics game next Tuesday will be their first loss.

The Cavaliers' Record Will Remain Elite

The Cavs will likely no longer be undefeated by this time next week. That being said, don't expect them to fall in the Eastern Conference standings anytime soon.

The Cavs are currently three games up on the No. 2 seed Celtics and six games ahead of the No. 3 seed Magic. Their top-10 defense and No. 1-rated offense aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The Cavs aren't just a feel-good story to start the season; they are legitimate title contenders.

The Cavaliers' NBA Finals Odds Are Still Long

According to FanDuel, the Cavs' title odds are still the eighth longest in the NBA. They are +1900 to win the title, which is ridiculous. They have been by far the best team so far this season, and having the eighth-shortest odds to win it all is downright disrespectful. Maybe it is their lack of big-name star power or the fact that they are from a small market, but the Cavs are legitimate title contenders despite their odds.
