Who Did Pacers Sign Following Myles Turner's Injury?

The Indiana Pacers reached code red regarding injuries. Six players are injured for the Pacers. Head coach Rick Carlisle announced Myles Turner would sit out Monday's contest vs. the 2-12 Toronto Raptors. ESPN's Shams Charania reported shortly after the Pacers' emergency signing of Moses Brown

Despite Indiana signing Brown, the team lacks a formidable matchup to oppose the Raptors' starting center, Jakob Poeltl, as the recently signed center has yet to officially join the team. Instead, Pacers rookie Enrique Freeman received the first start of his career.

Brown last played for the Portland Trail Blazers in 22 games during the 2023-24 season. Considering the timing of Brown's signing, Turner missing multiple games is a likely scenario. Without Turner, the Pacers lack rim protection, one of their two lob threats, and a 3-point shooting threat.

Last season, Brown grabbed 86 rebounds, blocked seven shots, and slammed 15 dunks. Brown recently played for the G League's Westchester Knicks, averaging 18.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and two blocks in four games.

Without Turner in the lineup, the Pacers' defensive rating will likely slide from 23rd to close to the bottom six. However, perhaps Brown's athleticism and 7-2 frame will deter opponents from the rim.

If not, the Pacers have few other options to stop the bleeding of their continued beaten-and-battered roster.
