The NFL might be the most popular sport to bet on right now, but don't sleep on MLB. The postseason is fast approaching and by this point, we know which teams are good, and which teams are prepping for offseason tee times. Time to use that knowledge for our benefit.
Parlay Leg 1 - Grab Dustin May and the Dodgers
The LA Dodgers are the best team in baseball and have owned the Diamondbacks this season. So we're riding the hot hand and taking the Dodgers over the D-backs for the first leg of our parlay.
The Dodgers split a doubleheader with Arizona on Tuesday, and are now 13-4 this season against the Diamondbacks. Los Angeles may have already won the NL West, but they haven't taken their foot off the gas pedal yet. This squad has already won a ridiculous 104 games, and they have an outside shot at breaking the 2001 Seattle Mariners/1906 Chicago Cubs MLB record for most wins in a season.
Dustin May is starting on Wednesday for the Dodgers, and he's still trying to get stretched out before the postseason starts, but that shouldn't stop you from taking the Dodgers on the moneyline. He's pitched to a respectable 3.46 ERA in his five starts since coming back from Tommy John surgery and his stuff has certainly passed the eye test. Arizona is starting Madison Bumgarner, and while he hasn't been as bad as Nationals' Patrick Corbin this season, he's not that far off either. Bumgarner is 6-15 with an ERA north of 5.00, and is a woeful 0-5 with an 8.35 ERA in his last seven starts. Talk about bad. That's why we love the Dodgers over the D-backs on Wednesday.
Parlay Leg 2 - Take the White Sox and Guardians Over
As for the final leg of our parlay, we like the over 6.5 runs
between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians. Both these teams might rank in the lower half of the league in runs scored, but they've been putting up runs as of late. The White Sox have scored the third-most runs this month and the Guardians have scored at least five runs in four of their last five games.
Even more compelling, seven of the last eight times these teams have played, the final score has been seven or more. And with both squads fighting for the AL Central title, expect to see them field their best lineups possible. The pitching match-up of hard throwers Triston McKenzie vs. Lance Lynn gives some pause, but we still like both teams to put runs on the board
The Bet: Dodgers over Diamondbacks and White Sox/Guardians over 6.5 runs (+108 odds via DraftKings)
