2025 NFL Draft: CB Prospect the Chiefs Should Watch

The Kansas City Chiefs have a cornerback problem that they will need to address before the start of the 2025 season. The Chiefs had a great defense last season, but the area that opposing teams attacked when they played the Chiefs last season was one side of the field. Whatever side starting cornerback Trent McDuffie was at, teams went to work on the opposite side of the field.

If the Chiefs do not address the other cornerback spot, their defense will not be as good as they were last season. The defense is already down a lot of players from last season's roster because they signed elsewhere. It is going to be important for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to find the right player or players to come in and help the defense out.

With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, it will be a good opportunity for the Chiefs to address the cornerback position. The Chiefs have a good history of finding cornerbacks and secondary help in recent drafts. That is one area of the defense that they have drafted well and those players have made a good impact on the team over the years.

One new prospect has emerged for the Chiefs at the cornerback position. That is Benjamin Morrison out of Notre Dame.

"Linear outside cornerback whose eye-catching ball production must be balanced out by his inconsistencies in coverage. Morrison would appear to be a natural press corner, but he lacks ideal footwork to mirror and match not only the release but the initial route breaks," said NFL Lance Zierlein.

"He has below-average coverage fluidity in open spaces and appears to be more effective covering the deep ball than shadowing routes on the first two levels. Morrison is more patient from off coverages and takes efficient paths to the throw, so a more zone-oriented scheme could make sense, while helping to minimize areas of concern."

Morrison will be a good fit for the Chiefs. They have good coaches on the defensive side, and they can learn from McDuffie as well. Morrison gives the Chiefs the opportunity to have another good cornerback who can become a shutdown cornerback in this league. If the Chiefs have the pick to select Morrison, they should take him in this draft.
