49ers Announce Big Offseason Update On Christian McCaffrey

The 2024 season was a tough one for San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and the team in general.

McCaffrey only played in four games because of multiple injuries. He only compiled 50 carries for 202 yards and no touchdowns.

Because he was out, the 49ers could never get their run game going and struggled on offense throughout the season. He is also a big part of their receiving game since he can make catches coming out of the backfield.

Despite the shortened season, McCaffrey is 100% healthy now and told the media on Tuesday that he feels great during offseason workouts.

"I'm feeling great," McCaffrey said, via 49ersWebZone.com. "It's been such a smooth process, a lot of hard work. As soon as that injury happened in Buffalo, I was kind of, this was my goal, to not miss a day of OTAs, be back, ready to go, with nothing hindering me, and that's where I'm at."

This is outstanding news for the 49ers and their fans since he's one of the best running backs in the NFL when he is healthy. He helped the 49ers get to Super Bowl LVIII during the 2023 season, finishing with 272 carries for 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He has compiled four 1,000-yard seasons during his career and will try to make it five when the 2025 NFL season starts in September. If he and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk can stay healthy, there's a real chance that the 49ers can bounce back in 2025 since they'll also have Brock Purdy at quarterback.

The 49ers are focused on trying to sign him to an extension since he only has one year left on his rookie contract.

Outside of that, it's wonderful news that McCaffrey has no limitations this offseason.
