49ers BREAKING As Brock Purdy Reveals Major Decision

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will take part in Phase I of the team's voluntary workouts which launch Tuesday., despite not having his extension finalized.

Purdy, 25, is entering the last year of his rookie deal and is in line for a contract that can make him one of the highest-paid players in the history of the NFL. This comes directly after being vastly underpaid for a starting quarterback over the last two seasons. He signed a $3.7 million rookie contract back in 2022.

Owner Jed York and the entire 49ers front office have made Purdy's extension a priority. York said Purdy is a top-10 quarterback in the league and deserves to be paid like one.

The front office has jettisoned nine players this offseason, in part to make room under the cap for Purdy's extension. Some worry they might have lost too much talent to be competitive, even with Purdy extended.

Talks between the two sides have picked up in recent days with the 49ers making an offer which Purdy's camp is still mulling over, but has not jumped at.

"The latest is that the 49ers have made an offer. It's kind of sitting out there," NBC Sports Bay Area Matt Maiocco recently said. "Brock Purdy and his camp—and I don't know how much involved Brock is. I'm sure the agent is shielding him from a lot of this stuff. But the offer the 49ers have made isn't one that Brock Purdy's side is inclined to take at this point, nor will they."

Purdy has led the 49ers to the Super Bowl following the 2023 regular season. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.
