5 Bold Predictions for the 2025 NFL Draft: Don't Expect Another 2024

It should be a fun draft with lots of twists, turns, surprises, and trades, because 1) that's what NFL Drafts are, and 2) this isn't a loaded draft, so some will want to move heaven and earth to get the one guy they want and need.

However, enjoy it for what it is, because this one will be a whole lot different than what happened last year.

Among our 5 bowl predictions we think this first round will be good, but ...

1. It’ll be an NFL Draft. Nothing more, nothing less.

How do you possibly top the 2024 NFL Draft, at least the first round?

You don’t, and this won’t.

Here's what we were treated to last year: three straight quarterbacks to get going, six passers selected in the first 12 picks - and all of them potentially terrific if JJ McCarthy is the real deal - and Marvin Harrison Jr., and Malik Nabers, and Brock Bowers going 13, and Jared Verse, and a slew of great-looking offensive linemen.

Good luck repeating last year’s haul.

It’s still early, but so far the rest of the 2024 draft appears to be a whole bunch of blah - seriously, almost no one on Day Three did anything that really mattered - but that’s because all NFL drafts are busy work after the top 50 picks.

Even so, years from now 2024 will be one of those drafts that gets its own documentary.

This one almost certainly won’t unless the edge rushers do for this draft what quarterbacks did for the 2024 version.

Edge rusher is the deepest early position, there are several options to choose from, and no, it's not like the quarterbacks of last year making such and instant impact in their own ways.

It'll be a good draft. At least, the first round will be okay. Just don't expect to be as jacked for it as you were last year.
