The New York Jets' offseason has seen a major roster cleanout, with Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, and C.J. Mosley being the biggest names to leave.
The incoming consists of Justin Fields, Brandon Stephens, Andre Cisco, and Josh Myers, which, for most, doesn't move the needle when it comes to winning games in 2025.
Yes, there is a rebuild being undertaken, and the roster, particularly offensively, could improve with the upcoming draft and New York holding the No. 7 pick.
But as things stand now, the roster leaves a lot to be desired, and for The Athletic's Austin Mock, who ranked all 32 teams' rosters prior to the draft, the Jets come in at No. 31, with the Tennessee Titans the only team worse than New York.
"The Aaron Rodgers era was nothing short of a disaster, as the Jets’ offense heads into the 2025 season as one of the worst in the NFL," Mock writes. "Outside of the interior offensive line, there isn’t a position group that rates higher than 27th. And while the defense should again outpace the offense, I’m not sure they’re destined to be one of the league’s best units any more, as their defensive line projects as below average."
That is quite the blow to the Jets, but in truth, this turnaround won't be a quick fix, and based on Mock's rankings, the 2025 season could be a brutal watch for New York fans.
But most knew that this would be the case, and there was always going to be growing pains under Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand, which is part and parcel of the journey the franchise is about to go on.
However, being ranked 31st, is that fair?
After the outgoings and incomings, coupled with a defense that many had as one of the best units in football (they were ranked 4th in 2022, 12th in 2023, and 20th in 2024), seen as slipping, maybe Glenn just got his bulletin board material ahead of the offseason beginning.
