Aaron Rodgers Bashing Of Jets Coach 'Exposes QB as Hypocrite'

While appearing as a guest on "The Pat McAfee Show,'' Aaron Rodgers on Thursday criticized current New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn for having the four-time NFL MVP fly cross-country to New Jersey only to be told in an apparently cold 20-second conversation that the team was parting ways with him.

Rodgers, obviously upset, believed the conversation could have been handled with a simple phone call.

"That was an interesting two years to say the least," Rodgers said. "I figured that when I flew across country on my dime there would be a conversation. The confusing thing to me is I went out there, I meet with the coach, we start talking, he runs out of the room. I’m like 'that’s kind of strange.' Then he comes back with the GM and I’m like 'all right.' So we sit down in the office and I think we’re going to have this long conversation, I've flown across the country, and 20 seconds in and he [Glenn] goes, 'So do you wanna play football? And I'm like, 'yeah I'm interested.' And he said “we’re going in a different direction at quarterback.'”

Rodgers was not done. He shared the entire conversation with the audience.

"He said, 'I don't wanna be up in front of the room, saying something, and have guys looking back at you,'" Rodgers added later. "And I said, 'What does that even mean? Are you assuming that I would be in the back of the room during the team meeting, undermining what you're saying?'

"I said, 'You don't know me.' And he said, 'You don't know me.' And then I said, 'Exactly. Which is why I flew across the country to have a face-to-face meeting with you, to talk about my experience with the Jets and to hear your vision for the team.' ... What I thought was gonna be a couple-hour meeting turned into like a 15-minute meeting, and I walked out of there ...

"I don't want any part of that. It was already a debacle."

Our NFL insider Mike Fisher's reaction to all of this?

"Rodgers is once again exposing himself as a hypocrite,'' Fish said. "When he came to New York, he announced he would unselfishly be in charge of ending all of the 'media leaks' in the building.

"The truth? He can't help himself. He was in a closed-door, private meeting with a coach. And he just went on TV to announce - to 'leak' every single thing that happened in that meeting. If you're his next coach, how do you trust him?

"And one more thing,'' Fish adds. "What about that Rodgers tweet from back in the day on this very subject?''

Fish is referring to the Jets follower who dug up a Rodgers comment in 2013 in which he stated his view on personal meetings vs. phone calls.

"Meeting in person > phone call. Always," Rodgers wrote on April 14, 2013.
