The Pittsburgh Steelers' current starting quarterback is Mason Rudolph, so the team has been pursuing former NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers in free agency as a result.
But like he has in the past, Rodgers is making things a bit difficult, as he has not spoken at all about whether or not he intended to sign with the Steelers. Some are getting fed up with the situation as a result, including former Steelers Pro Bowl safety Ryan Clark.
"It makes me sick, to be honest, unless Omar Khan of the Pittsburgh Steelers has some sort of promise, or some sort of lean on Aaron Rodgers, believing that he is going to come back and play football, and if he does make that decision he’s going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. I feel like this has been mishandled already," Clark said on a recent episode of "Get Up".
Not only is Rodgers making things a bit difficult, but he also had one of the worst seasons of his career with the New York Jets in 2024.
He finished the year with under 4,000 yards and 11 interceptions, which is tied for the third-highest mark of his career. To remedy the problem, Clark believes that the Steelers should draw a line in the sand.
"I think it’s been a bad play by the Pittsburgh Steelers already, and so I would give Aaron Rodgers a deadline, and when I give him that deadline, it wouldn’t lead me into next week," Clark said.
Despite how good it would be to get a quarterback as experienced as Rodgers, the Steelers' patience has to be wearing thin at this point.
