Less than three days away from the 2025 NFL draft, perhaps the New York Jets have a preferred target with the No. 7 overall pick.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are “enamored” with Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
“They (Jets) did recently and quietly have Penn State’s Tyler Warren in for a visit, and there are certain members of their organization who are said to be enamored with the player many consider to be the top tight end in this class,” wrote Schefter.
Warren, 22, wrapped up a standout career at Penn State after spending five seasons with the Nittany Lions from 2020 to 2024. He redshirted his freshman year and went on to appear in 56 games, amassing 159 catches for 1,839 yards and 19 touchdowns during his time in Happy Valley.
The Virginia native had a career-defining senior year in 2024, where he exploded onto the national scene as one of the top tight ends in college football. Warren finished the season with 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns, earning high praise for his physicality and playmaking ability. His 19 forced missed tackles ranked second among tight ends, and he also stood out with 13 contested catches, good for third at the position.
Thanks to his remarkable performance, Warren was named a consensus All-American and honored with the John Mackey Award, recognizing him as the nation’s best tight end.
For a team lacking a threatening No. 2 pass-catching option after Garrett Wilson, Warren would provide value as a receiver and a blocker, while his technique could use some refinement at the NFL level, according to Jets X-Factor’s Joe Blewett.
The Jets have been heavily linked to Warren, who ranks No. 9 on Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board. He could certainly be the pick at No. 7 overall for New York, adding a much-needed receiving threat and stepping in as the starting tight end for Tanner Engstrand’s offense.
