Adam Schefter Warns Browns After Shedeur Sanders Pick

The Cleveland Browns entered the NFL draft with significant questions about their future at quarterback. After selecting both Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, the Browns have only created more questions moving forward.

The Browns selected Gabriel in the third round — a move many considered a reach. With Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco already on the roster, it appeared Cleveland's interest in Sanders had ended. However, in the fifth round, the Browns made a trade with the Eagles to move up and grab Sanders, ending his historic draft slide.

The Browns have four healthy quarterbacks on the roster — a group that doesn't include Deshaun Watson, their $230 million failed investment, who is recovering from an Achilles injury and expected to miss most, if not all, of next season.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter warned that things could get messy for the Browns before they figure everything out.

"The Cleveland Browns, who have had one of the messiest, ugliest quarterback situations in the league for years, are taking a whole group of quarterbacks and putting them together. They now have Deshaun Watson and Kenny Pickett. They now have Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel. And they now have Shedeur Sanders. The storylines are just beginning, because all these quarterbacks are not going to be happy staying in Cleveland."

Schefter also noted that the Browns hold two first-round picks next year, a result of their trade with the Jaguars for the No. 2 overall selection. With next year's quarterback class expected to be deeper and more talented, Cleveland could be facing another pivotal decision regarding the future of the position.
