The Buffalo Bills' season hasn't gone exactly as planned, but in some ways, that may be to their benefit.

While the Bills are fighting for their postseason lives, they believe that adversity will help them push through a tough end-of-season stretch and make a late playoff push.

“We battled a lot, been battle-tested. And it’s a big thing being battled-tested,” star receiver Stefon Diggs said, per Spectrum News.

At 7-6 and having lost three of their last five games, the Bills certainly haven't made anything easy on themselves. With tough games against the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins still on the schedule, it's going to take a complete team effort to make the playoffs.

That said, Diggs believes the Bills are a much better team than their record indicates, but it's up to them to climb out of the hole they've dug themselves.

“Is the record a reflection of our team? I don’t think so. But it is the record," Diggs said. “The only thing we can do is win the next game, win the next play.

“Because down this stretch, we get to see what we’re made of. And as a true competitor, if you’re a real competitor, that’s what you want. And I like being an underdog more than anything.”

The Bills may not be underdogs for Sunday's game against the surging Cowboys, they're actually 2.5-point favorites, they are so when it comes to the playoff picture as a whole. ESPN's Football Power Index gives Buffalo a 49.4 percent chance to make the postseason, essentially a coin flip.

If the Bills are to overcome a subpar record by their recent standards, they'll have to start with another big win on Sunday.
