Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy disappointed with rookie campaigns

Four wide receivers were taken before Justin Jefferson during the 2020 NFL Draft, yet the Minnesota Vikings rookie had the best season out of any receiver in the draft class. 

Henry Ruggs III was the first receiver taken at 12th overall by the Las Vegas Raiders, followed by Jerry Jeudy at No. 15 to the Denver Broncos, CeeDee Lamb at No. 17 to the Dallas Cowboys and Jalen Reagor at No. 21 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Both Ruggs and Jeudy appear to be disappointed in their overall performances as rookies. 

In an interview with NFL Network on Thursday, Ruggs said he agrees with Raiders general manager Mike Mayock's assessment of Las Vegas' rookies in 2020. Mayock said he was "disappointed" in the performances of first-year players, including Ruggs. 

"I was disappointed in the season that I had, personally," Ruggs said, according to Pro Football Talk. "And he said he was disappointed in the production that we had as a class. So I feel like we're kind of on the same page. I have to get better at some things — I mean, we have to get better at some things, not only as a class but as a team. And we will get better at those things."

In 13 games, Ruggs reeled in 26 catches for 452 yards and two touchdowns. Derek Carr targeted him 43 times. 

Meanwhile, Jeudy admitted that he wasn't satisfied with his production despite leading the Broncos in receiving yards, according to USA Today. 

"No. Not even going to lie, I'm going to tell you, because I feel like I could be — I hold myself to a high standard," Jeudy said. via USAToday.com. "I feel like the standard I played at my rookie year wasn't the standard I'm used to playing at. I feel like mostly because all those drops. If I hadn't had those drops, I probably would be satisfied with my season, but having the drops hurt me."

In 16 games, Jeudy had 52 catches for 856 yards and three touchdowns. He was targeted 113 times and credited with 10 drops. 

Both receivers didn't have horrible 2020 campaigns. However, Jefferson blew them away with 88 catches for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns. With their rookie campaigns well behind them, Ruggs and Jeudy will have plenty of time to improve before the 2021 season.
