The Detroit Lions are looking to bulk up their defensive line in free agency. They already have a scheduled visit with Bengals interior defensive lineman D.J. Reader scheduled for Thursday. Now there's reported interest in another top defensive lineman. 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead.
The former 17th overall pick has spent his entire career with the 49ers and he's helped them reach two Super Bowls. Armstead is reportedly expected to be released by the 49ers at some point. The Lions are an interested party.
Armstead had a solid season for the 49ers last year despite some injuries. He had five sacks in 12 games. He can play both on the edge and in the middle. This would be a solid get for Detroit. It would be even more solid if they could get him and Reader.
