Bears cut offensive guard Nate Davis

The Chicago Bears are moving on from veteran offensive guard Nate Davis as the team announced it's releasing the 28-year-old on Wednesday.

Davis was Chicago's highest-paid offensive lineman on the roster and started two games before he was benched for the rest of the season. He last played for the Bears in Week 5.

He has played a total of 131 snaps over fives games in 2024.

Davis signed a three-year, $30 million extension last year, including $19.25 million guaranteed. That money resulted in 13 starts for Davis.

The lineman is considered a failed experiment under general manager Ryan Poles in an attempt to bolster the middle of the offensive line, a positional group that has struggled overall in 2024.

Davis is subject to waivers, just as all players who are released after the trade deadline are. Any team that claims Davis would take on the remaining $3.9 million fully guaranteed portion of his salary. It's unlikely any team takes on Davis' contract.

To fill the roster spot left vacant by Davis, the Bears signed offensive lineman Jake Curhan to the active roster from the practice squad.

The Bears host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at noon CT.
