BIBLE STUDY: Deion Cracks Joke About Giants Quarterback Room

With the 2025 NFL Draft less than a month away, the possibility that the New York Giants take a quarterback remains viable. With Miami quarterback Cam Ward all but selected by the Tennessee Titans, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is likely to be the top passer on the board.

The Giants eliminated the short-term need for a quarterback in free agency, adding both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to one- and two-year deals, respectively. That’s an acceptable quarterback room in itself, and general manager Joe Schoen may prefer to use the No. 3 pick on a player better positioned to make an impact in 2025.

That could lend itself to Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter hearing their name called with the third pick. If not, a redshirt season for Sanders would be in store, learning behind two veteran passers with a penchant for on-field leadership.

It would instantly become the league’s most entertaining quarterback room, with three vibrant personalities, the spotlight that comes with the Sanders name, and the biggest market in the sport.

Reacting to that possibility, Deion Sanders cracked a joke about potential Giants pre-game speeches.

“You going to be getting baptized before the game,” he said with a laugh.

Both Wilson and Winston are known for giving passionate speeches to their respective teams, often tied to their faith. It isn’t immediately clear if Winston will step aside to let Wilson be the sole leader when the time comes, but the idea of them joining forces in a pre-game speech of biblical proportions is entertaining to say the least.

“Yeah, I expect to be the starter and come in here and be ready to rock and roll every day,” Wilson said regarding leadership at his introductory presser. “This team is really looking for somebody to lead them in every way in terms of process and the offseason, during the season, our habits and our thought process, how we create a great winning culture, and how do we continue to establish that, to really build on things that we do well and things we need to continue to do.

“I think the big part for me is just try to -- this might be my 14th year to be able to lead an amazing group of men that really have big hopes and goals and dreams and desires, and we all share the same goal.”

Given Wilson’s proclivity for his confidence (and to some, corniness), Winston’s unrivaled personality, and Sanders’ determination to prove he can lead a group of men from the jump, New York would have a quarterback room worth watching.

How the group reacts once adversity hits, jobs begin to fluctuate, and the pressures of the NFL season become real will test just how strong those leadership qualities are.
