Big news has emerged about Travis Hunter’s father ahead of Thursday’s NFL Draft.

Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr., will be allowed to attend the draft in Green Bay, Wi., according to Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post. Hunter Sr. received permission from the courts to travel out of Boynton Beach, Fl. prior to the draft, and has been ordered to return on Friday.

Hunter Sr. is on probation stemming from a 2023 arrest on drug and gun charges. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail in September 2024, but remained on probation for three years and was sentenced to one year of home confinement following his release from jail. As a result, Hunter Sr. was unable to attend the Heisman Trophy ceremony in December, though Hunter offered an emotional tribute to his father during his acceptance speech.

At that time, Hunter Sr. said he had chosen not to attend the Heisman ceremony, but pledged to attend the NFL Draft.

As part of the terms of his travel, Hunter Sr. will be confined to the grounds of his hotel and Lambeau Field, where the draft is being held.

Hunter’s mother Shirley did attend the Heisman ceremony, but will not attend the NFL Draft. She said she was “proud” that Hunter Sr. would be able to attend the draft with his son.

The younger Hunter is expected to be one of the first few picks in Thursday’s draft. The Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 overall selection and have been raving about the two-way star recently.
