Bills Dealt Unfortunate News on Monday

The Buffalo Bills were handed a bad hand on Monday with the news that backup tight end Armani Rogers tore his Achilles' tendon during a training session and will require surgery, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson.

Buffalo signed Rodgers on a reserve/futures contract in January. A reserve/futures contract connects a player to a specific franchise despite the player not being on the 53-man roster.

Rogers, who went undrafted in 2022 after a collegiate career split between UNLV and Ohio, has previously played for the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end previously played quarterback in college. Over five seasons, he passed for 2,863 yards, 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,215 yards and 27 touchdowns on 400 carries.

Rogers began his NFL career in Washington and spent some of his rookie season on injured reserve.

In May 2023, he tore his Achilles during a non-contract practice. In July, he was put on injured reserve, but the commanders released him in August 2024.

A day after his release from Washington, the Eagles claimed him off waivers. About three weeks later, Philadelphia waived the tight end. In October, the Falcons added Rogers to their practice squad.

In his career, Rogers has five receptions for 64 yards.
