For most, the Buffalo Bills needed another weapon for Josh Allen if the franchise was going to get over the playoff hump that has plagued them for years.
After again seeing their season end at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs in 2024, the Bills were proactive in getting a couple of new pieces to add to the team.
One was Joey Bosa, the other was speedy receiver Josh Palmer.
Signing a three-year deal, Palmer comes to the Bills after four solid seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, and he's totaled at least 500 receiving yards in his last three years with the AFC franchise.
Now he comes to Buffalo, and Allen can't wait to get to work with his newest weapon.
“Very excited,” Allen said. “Excited to get to throw with him here pretty soon, very fluid in his routes, he creates a lot of separation and there's a lot of advanced stats that show that. Seems like a great guy, he's a Toronto kid too, so I know that he's got a big following here, and for him to be closer to family, I know that's always a plus.
“But so far, just being around him, he's got a great personality, he's going to fit in that receiver room just great.”
Often playing behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams in L.A., Palmer will come to the Bills, and depending on how the depth chart shakes out, he might be at the top of the chart.
Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Curtis Samuel fill out the receiver room, and Palmer will slot in somewhere in the starting lineup.
Now having a genuine speed option, Allen can dial up the launch codes with Palmer's ability to fly downfield, well-known as he's averaged over 10 yards per reception over his four-year career, and last season that was up to 15.0 yards per reception.
Chemistry will need to be built, but Palmer will now be part of the "everybody eats" offense in 2025 as the Bills look to finally break through their playoff ceiling.
